Must-Have :
General ICU skillset, including critical care experience with insulin, vasopressors, sedation, management of invasive lines, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, ventilator management, blood products, wound care, and dressing changes.
Description :
The ICU unit is licensed for 457 beds and is a Level 3 trauma center.
It is a stroke center of excellence and a bariatric center of excellence.
The unit has 40 beds and a typical census of 40 patients.
Patient types include ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy patients, optiflow, Bipaps, overdose patients, endotool management, CRRT, GI bleeds, and some trauma patients.
Patient ratios are approximately 1 : 1 to 1 : 3, depending on the acuity of the patients.
Support within the department includes CNAs to assist with turning, feeding, ADLs, blood sugars, lab draws, and mobility.
A charge nurse is available 24 / 7 to oversee patient care.
A phlebotomy RN is designated for responsibilities regarding lab draws.
Respiratory therapy is available around the clock.
Hospitalists and intensivists are on site 24 / 7 to provide additional support.
Telemetry monitoring is conducted via hardwire monitors and travel telemetry boxes.
Travelers may be required to float to other facilities within the regional scope of practice as needed.
In this case, time spent traveling between facilities will be compensated during shifts.
Weekend rotations occur every other week, and no on-call duties are required.
Travelers are expected to work approximately 75% of holidays.
Requests for time off will be considered, and any necessary adjustments to contract hours must be made accordingly.
Teamwork is a central aspect of the unit's culture, fostering strong collaboration among all staff during both day and night shifts.
Scrub color for staff is navy.
