The Protected Communication Systems (PCS) Team is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Systems Engineer in a role committed to creating creative and cost-effective solutions for our ground and airborne systems.

As part of Collins Mission Systems, we specialize in developing advanced communication systems, ground and flight computers, sensors, cyber and software solutions, as well as providing integration of Mission Systems.

As part of the PCS Department, the Systems Engineering department supports a variety of communications systems including SATCOM (including AEHF, EHF, X-Band, Ka-Band, Ku-Band, C-Band, and PTW), Line-of-Site (LOS) Radio Terminals and Secure Switching Networks.

This position is eligible for relocation assistance .

Job Responsibilities :

Overseeing the development of full lifecycle solutions from CONOPS to Validation

Acting as a Subject Matter Expert within discipline with advanced to expert knowledge of work area

Ensuring Modeling, Hardware, and Software Interfaces utilize a scalable ontology

Coaches, reviews, and delegates work of lower-level professionals

Contributes to the development of goals of the discipline and planning efforts (Cost and Schedule)

Influencing others regarding policies, practices, and procedures

Managing large projects or processes

Provides measurable input to new products, processes, or standards

Managing the entrance and exit criteria of Design Reviews

Reviewing and documenting major changes in systems or processes to solve difficult and often complex problems

Defining and setting objectives for area of responsibility

Communicating with team members within and outside of department and / or organization

Communicating with customers, vendors, or subcontractors

Analyzing and documenting system behaviors

Leading system trade studies, requirements analysis, architecture, allocation to subsystems

Managing numerous and undefined problems and issues requiring detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation to understand the problem

Qualifications / Experience Needed :

Experience leading a team in requirements development and system architecture

Knowledge of or application of Earned Value Management System

Proficient in tooling to include Microsoft products, or tasking boards (Jira, IBM EWM, etc.)

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws / regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 8 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 15 years of relevant experience

Active SECRET Security Clearance or higher REQUIRED

Security Clearance :

Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation / reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications :

Expert in tooling to include CAMEO, Rhapsody

Agile working environment experience

Test automation experience in a CI / CD environment

Systems support to software application development

Systems support to hardware development

System or application integration

Proposal support experience including writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs)

Experience in Virtual Machine design and deployment

Experience in Communication Radio and Systems : SATCOM, LOS / BLOS, AEHF, PTW, or V / UHF

Experience in Scripting

Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and ability to effectively communicate with IPT leaders, hardware and software development engineers, specialty engineers, program managers, and our customers

Employee Referral Eligible

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidates work experience, location, education / training, and key skills.
