Dispatcher - Operations
Position Summary : The position is responsible for supporting Green Transportations operations team in dispatching CDL-A operators nationwide. This is an essential role in the operations department and acts in a supportive manner for all day to day activities. Primary responsibilities will be related to dispatching CDL-A operators, answering incoming phone calls, developing, tracking, manifesting, dispatching, and ensuring Green Transportations standard of excellence is being upheld with regard to inbound and outbound freight. Other duties may include searching load boards, communicating with internal and external customers, maintaining, sorting, organizing, and completing paperwork related to CDL-A operator duties.
Essential Functions :
- Strategically securing inbound and outbound freight that ensures our drivers maintain their weekly rotation, while balancing inbound freight delivery schedules to deliver all freight on time.
- A working knowledge and following of produce customers and other prospective services from various regions of the United States.
- Maintain consistent communication with the management team to provide updates on matters pertaining to driver backhauls, progress, and any unforeseen delays or events in real time.
- Managing and directing drivers individually and as a team without bias, spite, or malice, showing no preferential treatment.
- Evaluating driver performance and communicating driver errors as necessary.
- Overseeing driver hours of service, forecasting timely deliveries.
- Establish rapport with current and potential new clientele by seeking to understand their freight handling needs and commodities.
- Actively maintain a fundamental role in decision making and problem solving regarding any conflicts or challenges that may occur.
- Step in and cover dispatch partner's responsibilities when necessary (eg. on vacation, or away from their desk for extended periods of time).
- Assist with selling company services to customers, negotiating rates, and solving customer issues.
- Oversee Company driver fleet productivity (moves / driver / shift)
- Identify opportunities for improving company performance.

Minimum Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GEDMust be able to support the Green Transportation culture with a focus on teamwork and a commitment to serviceStrong oral and written communication skillsProficient in Microsoft office suites including; Word, Excel, and OutlookProven ability to handle confidential information with discretionDemonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAbility to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to nationwide criminal record search, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by Green TransportationUS Citizenship required2 or more years working as a dispatcher in the transportation industry on both inbound and outbound freight. Strong understanding of driver relations and FMCSA and DOT regulations and requirements.An advanced skillset in Microsoft Office : Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. as well as an applicable knowledge of TMS and freight tracking software.Preferred Qualifications :
Solid understanding of fundamentals of transportation, truckload and LTL dispatch, able to understand and plan around trucking service regulations, able to communicate with a variety of managing partners and administrative staff.
