General Position Description

Conti Federal is searching for an experienced technical construction writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have proven success in the construction field, such as program / project management, construction administration, quality control / inspections, scheduling, design, or engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational requirements and standards.
  • Gain deep understanding of the general contracting services provided and translate complex information into technical narratives.
  • Write user-friendly technical content that meets the needs of non-technical target audience, turning insights into language for user success.
  • Develop and maintain technical construction narratives by scope / services as reference material.
  • Evaluate current content / process and develop methods for improving the technical narratives.
  • Write compelling proposal technical approaches that present win themes and differentiators as well as details of how we will execute the work.
  • Research, outline, write, and edit technical construction content, working closely with Business Development, Proposal, Estimating, Scheduling, Safety, Quality and Operations teams to understand construction project requirements.
  • Gather technical construction information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write technical construction narratives for non-technical audience.
  • Work with Business Development and Proposal leads to identify documentation repositories, revise, edit, and determine best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage.
  • Research, create, and maintain technical construction information / technical narrative templates for easy data migration.

Qualifications

  • For Security Clearance Requirements : Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Four-year technical degree or a BA in English or Journalism.
  • Five or more years of experience as an effective technical writer in the program / project management, engineering or construction industry.
  • Ability to read construction plans, specifications and schedule.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
  • Experience in writing technical documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences.
  • Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience in working with business development, project or construction managers, and engineers to refine content.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
