Overview

Store Manager in Training (SMIT) role at GNC. This development focused program is designed to prepare an individual to manage their own store under the leadership of a Store Manager or District Manager.

This is a Full-Time Hourly Supervisory Position. The SMIT role is a fast track to management, providing work assignments and training opportunities to prepare you for promotion from a SMIT to a Store Manager. As a SMIT you will learn and be expected to lead, coach, and support your team to provide exceptional service and guidance to our customers. You will oversee the daily operations of the store alongside a Store Manager or District Manager, including business performance and product management, and ensure your team has the tools to succeed. You will represent the GNC brand by offering expert product knowledge and promoting our "Live Well" message to customers.

$21.00 / hr - $21.00 / hr

What We Look For

GNC's Store Manager in Training (SMIT) position is crafted to prepare an individual to manage their own store. We seek a dynamic individual who embodies GNC\'s "Live Well" philosophy and is passionate about helping others to Live Well. The SMIT role is a development program with opportunities to advance to Store Manager.

What You'll Do

  • Actively engage with your leader in training initiatives, projects, and goals to support your path to promotion during the program.
  • Support the total shopping experience, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the customer relationship that leads to sales and repeat business (e.g., MYGNC Rewards).
  • Achieve and exceed personal sales and productivity goals, while helping sales associates realize their sales potential.
  • Build strong teams, demonstrate leadership and managerial skills (giving feedback, recruiting, hiring, and performance management).
  • Open, close, and operate the retail facility, including cash handling, inventory counts, and deposits according to GNC procedures.
  • Attend community fairs, conferences, meetings, and other public gatherings to promote the organization\'s mission and initiatives.

Environmental Factors & Working Schedule

  • Must be able to stand or walk for up to eight hours a day.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting (below waist and above shoulders).
  • Repetitive hand-to-finger motions; reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently lifting up to 20 pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds. Push / pull up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, reach and bend.
  • Work in temperatures ranging from 50–85 degrees (stock room areas).
  • Use of a computer up to 60% of the day.
  • SMITs are expected to work five (5) days / forty (40) hours per week and adhere to the following guidelines :

  • SMITs of mall and strip center stores must work at least two nights during the week until closing, one weekend night, and one other night.
  • Strip center SMITs must also work a full shift on Saturdays.
  • Mall SMITs are expected to work peak business days including weekends (Saturday & Sunday).
  • SMITs are expected to work a minimum of one full Sunday per month.
  • SMITs of downtown stores must work during lunch hours (11am–2pm, Monday–Friday) and may work one night per week until closing if the store is open in the evening. Downtown stores are not required to work Saturdays.
  • SMITs are expected to work all major U.S. holidays the store is open.
