This position pays between $62,500 to $119,700annually based on experience

The Coding Educator will act as a subject matter expert and liaison between thePRC Codingprofessional andproviderstofacilitateaccurateand complete coding. They willeducate onthe findings of coding reviewsin accordance withtheAMA and CMS guidelines, foreffective and efficientutilizationof health careservices.

Job Responsibilities :

Develops curriculum and training handbooks. Creates and delivers presentations to coders,auditors,physiciansand other support staff.Hasexcellent oral and written communication skillsin order toperform these tasks.

Integral part ofrevenuecycle team by providing support to thecodingfunctions,monitoringcoding quality standardsanreporting.

Works collaboratively withproviders andcoding staff tocomply withfederal / state standards and coding guidelines.

Participatein communication efforts of educational material with medical staff, corporate andoperationalleadership, departmentleadership,and coding professionals. Plan, develop, and present educational opportunities for workflow enhancements, clinical documentation improvement,codingandbilling regulatory issues, charging processes, and other related revenue cycle trends.

Serves as a resource toproviders andcoders with general coding questions.Researchcoding questions using a variety of resources. Updateproviders andcoders on coding changesin a timely manner.

Assistswith special projects as needed

Holds regular meetings with clients to discuss trending topics, benchmarking profiles, qualityconcernsand other topics as needed.

Ensures program compliance by followingAMA and CMSguidelinescoding and required documentation. Remains current with coding information to ensure accuracy of codes assigned based on documentation.

Work with associates across business functions and build relationships with multiple teams

Experience We Love :

5+ years of coding and educationalexperienceinProfessional Fee Codingor consulting settingwith preferenceforCardiology, General Surgery, NeurosurgeryorOb GYNspecialties

Extensiveprofessional feecoding knowledge.

Preferred knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications in addition to database applications and report writing software.

Extensive inpatientandoutpatient professional coding knowledge with applicableskillis stronglypreferred.

Required travel 20-40% of the time via air or car.

Minimum Education :

BachelorsDegree or Equivalent Experience

Certification / sRequired :

Candidates must have and keep current at least one of the following professional certifications (CPC, CPMA or CCS Preferred) :

CPC (Certified Professional Coder)

CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist-Phys Based)

CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)

RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)

RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)

CIC(Certified Inpatient Coder)

COC(Certified Outpatient Coder)
