Join Our Team as a Maintenance Associate at HI USA New Orleans Hostel!
Do you take pride in keeping things running smoothly and fixing problems before they start? Join Hostelling International USA at our vibrant New Orleans hostel, located in the heart of the city. We are currently hiring a full-time Maintenance Associate with prior maintenance experience to take the lead on keeping our hostel in great condition through proactive upkeep and timely repairs, all while supporting a welcoming guest experience.
Position Details : Pay : $17.50 / hour
Type : Full-time, benefit-eligible

Responsibilities :
Identify and complete repair tasks, ensuring all work orders are recorded and resolved in a timely and professional mannerMaintain an active project list and work plan using HI USA's facilities management softwarePerform regular upkeep and repairs, including basic plumbing, painting, grounds maintenance, and building repairsMonitor building systems including HVAC, fire alarms, sprinklers, electrical, and plumbingSupervise and document vendor work (e.g., pest control, HVAC, plumbing) when on siteManage daily waste, recycling, and compost removal and ensure cleanliness of related areasPerform janitorial tasks and assist housekeeping as neededClimb ladders, lift parts and equipment, and access crawl spaces as needed to complete maintenance tasksSupport other departments and take on special projects as assignedSkills / Qualifications :
High school diploma or GEDAt least 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a hotel, hostel, or similar hospitality environmentProficient in using tools and performing physical work, including general upkeep of building systemsComfortable reading and understanding basic instructions, writing simple reports, and speaking with staff and guestsBasic math skills including fractions, percentages, and graph interpretationWillingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as requiredEnjoy working with the public; able to calmly and professionally handle guest issues or emergenciesPhysical Requirements :
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and arms, reach, stoop, and talk or hearOccasionally required to climb, balance, or crouch for extended periods - Must be able to lift and move up to 50 poundsVision requirements include close, peripheral, and color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustmentNoise level in the work environment is usually moderateReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
