Job Description :
The Shipping Manager is responsible for moving orders, accepting returns, and dispatching carriers and for the administrative duties associated with the role including routing, proof of delivery (POD) / delivery paperwork collection and auditing file maintenance. This position serves as the first-point-of-contact for timely scheduling and delivery.
Job Requirements :
- Planning / scheduling of all outbound customer orders, accepting returns, and dispatching LTL and FTL carriers.
- Administrative duties associated with routing, proof of delivery (POD) / delivery paperwork collection and auditing file maintenance and serves as the first-point-of-contact for timely scheduling and delivery.
- Troubleshoot issues before they become problems
- Negotiate pricing on new products
- Assign orders to factories
- Extraordinary communication and effective interaction skills; both verbal and written
- Work with freight forwarders to plan, coordinate and consolidate international shipments
- Item setup and creation on ERP system
- Takes steps to avoid quality control issues
- Work with factories on acceptable delivery dates
- Maintain costing data
- Makes sure warehouse capacity is kept at optimal levels
- Communicate as necessary all information to sales team and management
- Create best practices work flow system
- Continually reviews freight costs, transportation rates, and / or the prices of raw materials to keep costs down where possible
- Follows up on back orders; expedites with vendor any special arrangements for delivery, and communicates to department and requestors the expected delivery date
- Direct and approve carton markings and specific packing requirements / spec details
- Track all orders from PO creation to delivery
- Work with design team to communicate all order details to factories / create detailed work order information to factories
- Coordinate timely delivery of approval and production samples
- Approve PO's and Pro-forma Invoices
- Suggest ways to improve production process flow when areas of improvement can be identified
- Ensure all proper clearance documents are in place
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a very fast-paced, high-volume work environment and to effectively manage quickly changing priorities
- Oversees inventory of goods and vehicle
- Proactively plan in advance for any delays and or shipping issues.
- Assists in the review of requisitions documents from staff for accuracy and completeness
- Possesses sound reasoning skills and regularly shows ability to learn and interpret complex technical rules, regulations, and instructions
