Key Responsibilities
As a Lactation Consultant, you will :
- Provide comprehensive lactation assessment, management, education, and support to inpatient lactating women and community-based outpatients.
- Conduct consultations, rental or sale of lactation equipment, telephone triage, and prenatal education as necessary.
- Create a nurturing environment that encourages confidence and adult learning while protecting confidentiality and optimizing lactation management for mothers and infants.
- Implement evidence-based practices in lactation management, counseling, and patient education in accordance with ILCA Standards & Scope of Practice and IBLCE Code of Ethics.

BSN or MSN from an accredited School of Nursing is required.IBCLC - International Board Certified Lactation Consultant certification is mandatory.Minimum of 2 years of lactation consultant experience is required; a combination of nursing and lactation consultant experience will be considered. Inpatient, hospital-based lactation experience is preferred.Active RN License in DC is required upon hire.This position has a hiring range of : USD $41.98 - USD $75.62 / Hr.
