Job descriptionWork in the Cardiac Telemetry unit of an acute care hospital Care for post-op cardiovascular surgery patients including CABG, MVR, STEMI, heart failure, fundoplication, VATS decortication, and vascular repair Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 3 or 1 : 4 Perform titration of drips including Heparin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone Tele Techs monitor off-unit; RNs must interpret common rhythms using GE tele packs and monitors Uses Cerner for electronic medical records 12-hour night shifts with self-scheduling allowed Required to work 3 weekend shifts per 4-week block and 2 out of 4 major holidays Floating required to other applicable areas No call or standby requirements Personal vehicle needed for travel teams Provide care to post-operative cardiac patients requiring cardiac telemetry and complex medication management Charge nurse functions as a resource and ideally does not take assignments One patient care technician for every 16 beds supports the unit Orientation includes a two-day unit-specific training plus a SIMs lab pass / fail assessment on day one First-time travelers are considered if all requirements are met Holiday and weekend coverage is required as scheduled Active AZ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Level 1 trauma experience is required Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with two attempts permitted Must pass a skills assessment on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day 1 Must be able to titrate cardiac drips and interpret telemetry rhythms Adherence to navy blue scrub dress code; scrubs not provided Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver’s license Returning candidates must not have worked at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts
