BETA Group, Inc is offering an exciting opportunity for motivated and inquisitive Civil Engineering students to join our Rotational Internship Program . This structured internship provides hands-on experience across multiple civil engineering disciplines, allowing interns to gain exposure to a wide range of projects and practices. Interns will rotate through various departments; including structural, transportation, geotechnical, water resources, and construction management to develop a well-rounded understanding of the field and explore areas of interest for future specialization.
While specific duties may vary by rotation, typical responsibilities include :
- Assisting with design calculations, technical drawings, and project documentation
- Supporting fieldwork activities, site inspections, and data collection
- Participating in team meetings and contributing to project planning discussions
- Using engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or GIS tools
- Conducting research and preparing reports under the guidance of professional engineers
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes
- Ask lots of questions!
Rotational Areas May Include :
Structural Engineering – Support bridge & culvert designTransportation Engineering – Assist with traffic analysis, roadway design, and planningGeotechnical Engineering – Conduct soil analysis and foundation design tasksWater Resources – Work on stormwater management, flood modeling, and hydraulicsEnvironmental Engineering – Assist with environmental assessments and permittingLandscape Architecture, Urban Design, & Planning – Contribute to sustainable site design, public space planning, and integrated infrastructure projectsPreferred location is BETA’s Lincoln, RI office.

Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in engineering, or related fieldUnderstanding of general engineering theory and conceptsProficient in the use of current technology (i.e., tablets, smart phones, laptops, etc.)Proficient with Microsoft Office SuiteStrong technical aptitude with an eagerness to learnExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong problem-solving skills with attention to detailMust be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspectionsMust be able to lift / move objects weighing up to 40 poundsMust be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and / or snow)Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of timeMust have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportationPreferred Experience :
