Must-Have :

Must have level 1 trauma experience.

Must have previous travel experience.

Must have prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit.

Must have experience titrating heparin drips.

Description :

The position involves working in a neuro med-surg acute care setting.

The unit consists of 54 beds, with a nurse to patient ratio of 1 : 5-6 on night shifts.

Common patient diagnoses include stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, and other neuroscience conditions.

There is a charge nurse and house supervisor on each shift.

Charge nurses do not typically take on patient assignments unless staffing is short.

Patient care techs assist nurses, with ratios of 1 : 9-10 during the day and evening shifts, and 1 : 10-12 at night.

Registered nurses are required to operate and troubleshoot high-flow oxygen for stable patients.

Telemetry monitoring is house-wide, and nurses do not need to interpret strips.

Nurses will float within designated areas and will be assigned with a trained nurse if floated outside of their general unit.

Nurses are required to work every other weekend and holiday.

Dress code requires tattoos to be covered while on duty, with no piercings allowed except for earrings.
