Our client’s healthcare system is made up of the following : a teaching hospital (level 1 trauma center), a children’s hospital, 3 community hospitals, numerous medical practices, home care services, hospice services, and reference lab services.
Summary :
The Radiation therapist will join a growing, modern, CRO Accredited Radiation Oncology department that has a dedicated team of 3 physicists, 5 radiation oncologists, 4 dosimetrists and 15 therapists to provide the best and safest delivery of all offered radiation modalities in a single center with approximately 100 patients on 4 linear accelerators and a dedicated HDR suite.
The Radiation Therapist must demonstrate an understanding of cancer, radiation biology, radiation therapy techniques, equipment technology, radiation safety and psychosocial aspects of cancer.
Under the supervision of the radiation oncologist the radiation therapist simulates, plans, implements and delivers the treatment, as prescribed by the radiation oncologist including participation in required on-call procedures.
Therapist will assist the radiation oncologist in a wide range of sterile procedures. Responsible for the care and treatment of patients, which may use radiation therapy services, to include, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
The Radiation Therapist will be the primary liaison between patients and a multidisciplinary team of professionals at a state of the art all Elekta center.

- Modalities include SRS, SBRT (Lung, spine, metastases, pancreas, liver etc.), IGRT, VMAT, IMRT, 3D, electrons

In addition, the radiation therapist will administer clinical treatments under the direct supervision of the radiation oncologist and will remain sensitive to the needs of the patient through communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring and patient care skills.
Qualifications :
- Graduate of an accredited Radiological Sciences Program in Radiation Therapy or equivalent from a two year Certificate Program
- Accredited programs must meet the JRCERT (Joint review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology) standards
- 1 year of experience in radiation therapy is preferred, however new grads are encouraged to apply.
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
