About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Must-Have :

• Minimum 2 years of experience, trauma experience preferred
• Flexible with varied shift start times between 3 PM and 7 PM
• Willing to work every other weekend and holidays

Description :

The unit is an Emergency Room with a fast-track area.

Patients typically receive care in the main Emergency Room.

It consists of 24 beds with no trauma bays.

There is a private room available for psychiatric patients if needed.

An overflow area accommodates up to four patients.

The average daily patient volume is approximately 250 visits.

Staffing ratios are 2 : 1 or 4 : 1 depending on the situation.

Utilization of electronic medical records is through Cerner power chart.

Charge nurses do not take patients and oversee unit operations.

Emergency room technicians assist with technical duties.

Security and patient sitters are provided by the emergency room technicians.

Weekend duty includes every other weekend, covering Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Holiday shifts are part of the staff rotation, and staff should be prepared to work during holidays.

Nursing staff wear blue scrubs, while technicians wear green.

The emergency room is equipped with 22 hardwired monitors.

Respiratory therapy is on-site 24 / 7.

Pharmacy services are available around the clock.

Shift times are varied, including 0645-1915, 1845-0715, 9 AM, 12 PM, and 3 PM.

Floating to other areas is not required.

The unit divides patient care into three parts : fast track, treat and anticipate disposition, and acute care.

Common patient diagnoses include STEMI, cardiac issues, sepsis, stroke, DKA, and intoxication.

No inpatient pediatric care or behavioral health unit is available.

The hospital has a cancellation policy that allows for cancellations of shifts during assignments.
