Description
Our client, a leader in commercial real estate, is seeking a Building Engineer to support operations at a premier multi-use property in Philadelphia, PA . This is a full-time, on-site position operating Monday-Friday 8 : 00am-4 : 30pm . This position starts as a 3-month contract opportunity and pays $30-33.50 per hour based on experience. This position is ideal for a hands-on, technically skilled professional with 4-5 years of experience maintaining high-rise office buildings or similar Class A commercial environments. The Building Engineer will work closely with another engineer and report directly to the Chief Engineer. This property includes a high-rise office building, as well as additional retail, hotel, and office space-making it an excellent opportunity for a jack-of-all-trades technician seeking variety and responsibility in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine building maintenance and repairs across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Support operation and troubleshooting of HVAC systems (heating and cooling)
- Conduct regular fire alarm system checks and maintenance
- Change light bulbs, replace fixtures, and perform light carpentry as needed
- Monitor and complete work orders; communicate with tenants and team members
- Assist with water source heat pumps and building automation systems where applicable
- Ensure all tasks align with building codes and company safety protocols
Qualifications
4-5 years of experience in a Building Engineer or similar facilities rolePrior experience working in Class A office buildings, preferably in Center City PhiladelphiaKnowledge of fire alarm systems, and basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systemsHigh school diploma or GED requiredBasic computer skills; ability to navigate work order systems and email communicationNice to Have
Philadelphia Class A Engineer's License (preferred, not required)Experience with water source heat pumpsExposure to building automation systems (BAS)Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across multiple tradesFamiliarity with commercial real estate or mixed-use properties
