Overview
The Procurement Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers to support research, development, and manufacturing operations. The Procurement Sourcing Specialist collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and legal, to support new product development, supplier qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities include analyzing supplier capabilities and market conditions, evaluating competitive bids, supporting supplier audits and visits, and maintaining up-to-date contract documentation. The role also contributes to strategic sourcing goals such as cost reduction, lead time optimization, and improved inventory turnover. Staying current with market trends and material innovations is essential to ensure sourcing strategies align with organizational goals and evolving industry demands, while complying with HIPAA, FDA, and ISO 13485 regulations.
Responsibilities
- Research, analyze, and assess potential sources for assigned categories and commodities, considering supplier capabilities, capacity, and market constraints.
- Evaluate supplier bids based on pricing, availability, quality, and logistics; review and compare competitive proposals to support strategic sourcing decisions.
- Participate in new supplier onboarding and product development initiatives, including conducting supplier visits and audits as needed.
- Stay informed on emerging market trends, innovations, and material developments relevant to sourcing categories.
- Ensure sourcing contract templates and related documents are current and properly maintained within the contract management system.
- Assist in the execution of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and supplier contracts in coordination with legal and procurement teams.
- Contribute to cost reduction efforts, lead time optimization, and inventory turnover improvements through strategic sourcing practices.
- Perform other sourcing-related duties and projects as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
Qualifications
Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline required3-5 years' experience in a supply chain or equivalent role in the medical device or other highly regulated industryAdvanced Excel skills necessaryAPICS certification a plus10% travel expectedPreferred :
