Lateral Police Officer
The City of El Monte is offering a Lateral Police Officer position with a $15,000 signing bonus. The salary range is $91,746.06 - $111,518.92 annually. This full-time position is located in El Monte, CA.
The job involves a wide variety of patrol and related duties, including the prevention of crime, protection of life and property, and enforcement of laws and ordinances. Officers patrol areas of the city, conduct surveillance, assist in the preparation of cases, and testify in court. They also serve in specialized departmental roles and provide information and assistance to the public.

Qualifications
Knowledge of operations and services of municipal law enforcement, principles and practices of law enforcement, rules of evidence, criminal court system processes, and safety practices is required. Ability to perform law enforcement duties, observe accurately, interpret complex laws, make sound decisions, organize work, operate equipment, communicate effectively, and establish positive working relationships is also required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities are qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and specialized training in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field. Experience includes current employment by a California Police Department for a minimum of one year and possession of a valid California Driver's License and Basic Certificate issued by the California State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.

Physical demands include mobility to work in a patrol and field environment, vision to operate vehicles and read materials, and hearing and speech to communicate. Environmental conditions include exposure to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, moving vehicles, and hazardous physical substances and fumes.
