Accounting Manager

Location : Austin, TX (Onsite with hybrid flexibility as work demands allow)

Position Overview :

We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to support the Controller in overseeing daily accounting operations and the financial close process. This role combines leadership, coordination, and active participation in accounting tasks. The Accounting Manager will guide a team of Lead Accountants, manage the month-end close, ensure accuracy in financial reporting, and strengthen internal controls. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in U.S. GAAP, a proactive mindset, and proven experience leading accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Team Leadership & Oversight :

Provide daily direction and review of work for a team of Lead Accountants to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.

Oversee general ledger activities, issue resolution, payment authorization, and daily operations.

Foster collaboration, mentorship, and open communication within the team.

Financial Close & Reporting :

Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.

Conduct flux analysis to evaluate account balances and trends, providing actionable insights.

Prepare consolidated financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

Support the implementation of financial reporting automation tools.

Audit, Compliance & Controls :

Coordinate with external auditors and support the annual audit process.

Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.

Perform GAAP research on complex accounting issues and provide supporting documentation.

Process Improvement :

Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

Promote best practices, automation, and continuous improvement within the accounting function.

Qualifications : Required :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

CPA certification

Minimum 2 years at a top 10 public accounting firm

6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory role

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control principles

Experience with multi-entity consolidation and financial reporting

Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills

Preferred :

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, deFacto, and FloQast

Familiarity with inventory accounting, lease accounting, and indirect taxes for distribution companies

Skills & Attributes :

Strong leadership and team management abilities

Collaborative, hands-on approach with attention to detail

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

Self-motivated and adaptable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
