Orbital is seeking a Construction Quality Technician (Electrical Transmission & Distribution) to be based in Saint Louis, MO.

The role will entail performing quality audits of ongoing construction activities, inspections of installed equipment prior to energization, and / or performing FAC-008 reviews at new or existing substations.

planning and coordinating construction activities for a designated project to ensure goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and funding parameters by performing the duties listed below.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures at site.
  • Report safety compliance issues to project manager, safety manager and direct supervisor.
  • Work with construction supervision and on-site safety personnel to stop unsafe construction activities.
  • Perform audits of construction crew’s performance for all projects and ensure compliance to all drawings and specifications.
  • Audit ongoing construction activities to verify the contractor is installing material and equipment per the design.
  • Write NCR’s for all non-conformance issues found during audits or final inspections.
  • Perform constructability reviews of new substation projects prior to the start of construction.
  • Perform FAC-008 audits prior to energization of new substation equipment.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and calculations prior to a site visit.
  • Works under minimal supervision and must be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
  • This is a mostly field position and requires the ability to walk around a field site. The employee is occasionally required to climb ladders.

The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must be familiar with construction documentation and project filing systems as well as have a working knowledge of computer software tools and programs to include Microsoft Office and Adobe.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and a vehicle to visit construction sites as well as have a flexible schedule and quick response time in order to compensate for the customer’s changing needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 hour and MEA specific training is beneficial.
  • Previous experience of Construction (Electrical T&D).
