Hours Per Week : Per Diem

Schedule : 12 Hour Variable Shift

About the Role

Are you passionate about providing top-notch respiratory care? At Gouverneur Hospital, we’re looking for a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our dynamic team! Under the guidance of our Respiratory Therapy Manager and Director, you will play a crucial role in delivering quality respiratory care while adhering to professional standards set by the National Board for Respiratory Care and the New York State Education Department.

Your Responsibilities

• Critical Thinking : Use your initiative and independent judgment in high-pressure situations.
• Patient Care : Address adverse reactions to therapy or medications, including respiratory distress and failure.
• Collaboration : Accept verbal and telephone orders from physicians and write medication orders for the cardiopulmonary system.
• Team Development : Assist in developing work methods, job planning, and patient rounds.
• Knowledge Application : Utilize your understanding of cardiopulmonary disease and treatment methods.
• Education : Plan and provide in-service programs on Respiratory Care for hospital staff.
• Quality Assurance : Ensure that quality respiratory care is delivered to all patients as per orders and schedules.
• Comprehensive Care : Perform all aspects of respiratory care, including medication administration, pulmonary function testing, and ventilation management.
• Service Development : Help implement new services to enhance patient care.
• Testing : Conduct Electrocardiograms and Methacholine Challenge Testing as needed.
• Team Player : Be an integral part of the treatment team for all patients you consult on.
• Therapy Administration : Administer inhalation therapy and IV medications related to the cardiopulmonary system.

Working Conditions

This is a Union Position : 1199 - SEIU (GH)

Note : Not all per diem roles are union eligible.

Physical Requirements

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This role requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

Compensation

Pay Range : $35.42 - $52.55

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full-time applicant. Pay may be modified in the future and is eligible for additional components based on experience, qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
