JOB DESCRIPTION

The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for an anticipated part-time facuty positions in the following subject areas for the 2026 spring semester :

Introduction to Ethnic Studies Chicano Studies

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

Faculty job responsibilities include the assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services.

Faculty assignments may include morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend hours. Dual enrollment, distance education, on-line or hybrid with required distance education certification assignments are voluntary. For faculty who are interested in teaching online or hybrid courses, completion of El Camino College's distance education certification process is required or submission of a waiver with evidence of prior certification to develop and teach quality online courses.

Faculty may participate in initiatives set forth by the College that support students to achieve their educational goals through collaborations with employers, advisory committees, industry / trade groups, universities, high schools, or other partnerships with related instructional disciplines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience :

Master's degree in the ethnic studies field 0R

Master's in American Studies / Ethnicity, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Central American Studies, Latin American Studies, Cross Cultural Studies, Race and Ethnic Relations, Asian-American Studies, or African-American Studies OR

The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above, must explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR

Valid California Community college instructor credential in appropriate subject. (per California Education Code 87355 issued prior to July 1, 1990); AND

Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous college-level teaching experience.

SALARY :

Part-time faculty are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate $105.27 - $134.39 (lecture), $79.79 - $101.83 (lab), per hour depending on education and experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a part-time position beginning August 2024. Assignments may include dual enrollment and off-site locations. A teaching demonstration and sample syllabus will be required during the interview process. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), and transcripts. Candidates selected for employment must agree to be fingerprinted, submit Certificate of the Tuberculosis Risk Assessment and / or Examination, provide proof of eligibility for employment in the United States, and present a valid Social Security card upon hire.
