Expected Starting Salary Range : 19.73 - 24.05
The goal of the is to advance our understanding of both HPV-related and -unrelated Squamous Cell Carcinoma development, and to develop new approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of HPV as a major cause of cancer worldwide.
Two major areas of investigation in the laboratory focus on :
- Mechanisms by which the HPV oncogenes subvert the host cell machinery to promote abnormal cell growth and cancer
- The role of specific cellular HPV targets in viral replication and cellular transformation. Model systems utilized include primary human and murine cells and tumors, three-dimensional organotypic epithelial rafts and mouse models of cancer.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform experiments and record data
Follow research protocol. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments. Analyze data; perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.
Design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy.
Apply standard protocols to specific experiments, research and improve current methods, and evaluate innovative techniques.
Assists in training students and new / junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
Lab Administration
Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy.
Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment. Maintain cell cultures. Operate standard laboratory equipment. Use and maintains laboratory equipment appropriately.
Responds to obviously erroneous results or problems with equipment. Assists in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness.
- Provides appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.).
- Serve as a Resource
Demonstrate competence in specific knowledge, skills and behaviors. Effectively communicate with team members and contribute to their growth by sharing knowledge, experience, and skills.
Stay abreast of changes in key systems. Serve as a resource to the department in specific area(s).

Maintain / manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders. Respond to requests quickly and effectively.

Qualifications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Required for RAII :
High school diploma or equivalent AND 2 years of work experiencein a related job discipline OR
Preferred :
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Required for RAIII :
Bachelor's degree in a related field AND 1 year of directly related experience OR Master's degree in a related field
