Position Summary
The Zone Supervisor assumes LP SDS operational accountability, maintains a comprehensive understanding of contemporary nursing and patient care principles, age specific competencies, and evaluates staff and department functional work performance. Position functions as traffic controller regarding staffing and resources for respective zones. Assesses quality of care provided through unit rounds and receiving / giving of report results. Assures adequate allocation of staff, including human resource management, operational management, and scheduling in the LP SDS. Ensures availability of appropriate staff skill set mix at all times. Assists staff in identifying and prioritizing work performed. Provides support in coordinating departmental / staff functions between the Operating Room, Same Day Surgical, SET, and PACU.
Education
Bachelor`s degree in Nursing required. Current / valid State of New Jersey license (or legal permission to work from the New Jersey Board of Nursing).
Experience
Minimum 2 year's experience in related clinical setting required, prior nursing management experience preferred.
Skills
Current State of New Jersey license (or legal permission to work from the New Jersey Board of Nursing). CNOR certification preferred. BLS required. Completion of general nursing orientation, ACLS certification and unit-based competency assessment, which includes the appropriate age and development of the patient population served on the unit. Demonstrates effective interaction and communication (oral, writing, presenting) skills. Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing patient needs, including working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who are dying. Ability to work cooperatively with health-system, patients, family members, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e., physicians, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Lab, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively problem-solve.
