Position description
The Department of Political Science at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Comparative Politics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will have research that makes novel theoretical contributions in one or more of the following areas : political economy and political development; democratic or authoritarian regimes; judicial politics and courts; social movements and protests; and environmental politics. Candidates with expertise in any world region will be considered, with special interest in Asia (especially China) and Africa. The successful candidate will have expertise in field research and original data collection, substantial training in quantitative methods, and the ability to teach graduate and undergraduate methods classes. Applicants should demonstrate a record of research productivity, strong grant potential, and a willingness to contribute to interdisciplinary research and teaching.
