HR Specialist Immigration

Reporting to the Executive Director, Workforce Operations, the HR Specialist Immigration supports BILH's immigration efforts. This position collaborates closely with Human Resources, BILH employees, and both internal and external legal counsel to guide candidates and colleagues through complex immigration processes with clarity and care. The HR Specialist - Immigration will maintain the immigration database, produce reports, assist with projects, analyze administrative workflow, communicate with all levels at BILH regarding a range of immigration-related matters, and assistance with the I-9 and work authorization process. Hybrid / Remote-this position is on-site in Charlestown on Wednesdays.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Model HR best practices, and establish credibility and trust at all levels.
- Monitor immigration expiration dates and work authorization expiration dates to ensure timely renewals and reverifications
- Actively participates as a member of the Human Resources team, participating in projects, activities and various work assignments.
- Participates in programs that enhance development, communication, processes and other workflows.
- Assists with data entry of new and extended J-1 visa requests into immigration database.
- Collaborates with Recruiting, Legal, and Human Resources to assist with immigration matters to support hiring process.
- Responds to immigration-related inquiries from employees and managers, providing guidance and information on policies, processes, administration and other, and ensures timely escalation as needed.
- Provides general support to the HR staff for transaction management and various operational elements in support of our business partners. Communicates with internal stakeholders throughout the employment cycle.
- May track key HR metrics for the team and analyze data to inform decision-making, preparing reports and distributing information to keep HR and business leaders appraised of activity.
- Participates in compliance-related audits and ensures that HR data is complete. Monitors requirements and communicates to HR staff for compliance.
- Provides analytical insight and applies critical thinking in order to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of HR business processes.
- Assists with maintaining immigration-related content, policies and resources.
- Contribute to various projects and initiatives within HR, driving process improvements, automation and efficiencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.Licensure, Certification & Registration :
Human Resources certification preferred.Immigration experience preferred.Experience :
3-5 years of experience working in Human Resources in a generalist capacity.Skills, Knowledge & Abilities :
Solid understanding of HR practices.Knowledge of employment law and regulations.Ability to build and sustain successful relationships with all levels of the organization.Highly-organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task.Proven ability to self-motivate, work independently and work as part of a team.Effective working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.Ability to use own judgment on work prioritization ensuring expectations of service delivery can be met.Flexible to take on variety of tasks or projects; adaptable and can anticipate opportunities for additional contributions.Exceptional communications skills necessary to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals.Strong interpersonal skills to support and collaborate with hybrid / remote teams.Positive, professional business presence.Strong service excellence skills.High level of discretion, integrity and confidentiality.Ability to do research and analyze data for contextual presentation.Pay Range : $75,000.00 - $85,000.00
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
