Job purpose
The buck on operator will support the processing of tubular pipe.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible in cooperating with all departments.
- Keep up with the speed of the threading machine.
- Ensure that machine is working properly to process pipes.
- Confirm that pipe dope is sufficiently supplied to facilitate the coupling make-up.
- Responsible for coordinating with inspector and other machine operators to ensure the production can be run smoothly.
- Responsible for reporting to Threadline Supervisor on the items that need to be repaired, replaced, or purchased.
- Ensure couplings match work order and the grade of couplings is same as pipe.
- Inspect gripping area of jaws to ensure no wear is present, advice supervisor if worn or slip.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Competencies
Education :
o High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Years of Experience :
o 1 year experience or on the job training is preferred but not required.
Job Knowledge :o At least Knowledge and experience within the OCTG pipe inspection industry is preferable.
Knowledge of the heat treat processes, procedures, and technical instruments is a plus but not required.Personal Competencies :o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Employee must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require over-time.
Safety :o Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.
Working conditions
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to, eye safety glasses, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
Physical requirements
The ability to lift 25 / 50 pounds regularly.The ability to respond quickly to sounds.The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.The ability to work in extreme weather.The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
