Job Purpose
The Commercial Design Specialist is responsible for creating project designs, drawings, presentations, and timeline schedules for the Contract Division at Furnitureland South. This role includes preparing project quotations, entering approved projects into the Contract System, and coordinating the installation process. The Commercial Design Specialist also leads the division's support team.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Interface with Sales staff for preliminary project requirements and identification of sales services that are needed for each opportunity.
- Attend and participate in weekly team meetings, collaboration meetings, and client meetings.
- Engage with clients in a professional and personable manner while gaining project requirements and identification of their needs.
- Provide furniture drawings, plan and 3-D; specifications, finishes, validations, installation drawings and BOM breakdown for Contract Sales and client review.
- Attend vendor training, updates and any continuing education opportunities.
- Collect all sign off paperwork (quotes, drawings, etc) and file it in the electronic project file.
- Assist in projects installations : Attending weekly installation meetings with the team to discuss projected billing and scheduling of the installations.
- Complete punch lists, warranty orders and service calls to ensure communication to clients occurs in a timely manner.
- Complete time sheets and other administrative responsibilities.
- Occasional client site visits will be required, alone or with the team.
- Responsible for maintenance of design library materials and finishes.
- Assist with updates and layout of the Contract Showroom.
- Must have the ability to work quickly and accurately while avoiding errors.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a step stool as necessary.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent with three or more years of related experience.Experience with AutoCAD software.Intermediate experience with software systems such as Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Shared Docs.Ability to accurately field measure to produce detailing drawings using the design software.Solid understanding of ADA, egress, and building codes.Knowledge of furniture and vendors, with the ability to stay up to date on current trends.Focused on hospitality projects.Furniture, fixtures and equipment driven.Preferred Education And Experience
Associates degree from an accredited college or university with one year experience.3+ years' experience working in commercial design or related field.Experience in use of Bluebeam, 2020, and CET design specification software.Seniority level
