Senior Security Research Engineer – Proofpoint

The role is a highly technical position on Proofpoint's Threat Research team. You will track threat actors, malware, phishing and TTPs to develop static and dynamic signatures that detect and prevent threats at scale. The work has a direct impact on our product efficacy, intelligence quality and customer protection.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Stay abreast of an evolving threat landscape, including credential phishing.
• Analyze malware, malicious documents, and URLs from internal and external sources.
• Conduct in-depth email analysis to detect and classify threats such as BEC and phishing.
• Apply critical thinking to design efficient mitigation strategies.
• Develop, test, and deploy static and / or behavioral signatures.
• Identify, prioritize, and fill coverage gaps to minimize customer impact.
• Participate in on-call rotation for escalated customer incidents.
• Collaborate remotely via chat, video, and conference calls.
• Work with engineering teams to define requirements for continuous improvement of detection capabilities.
