Managing Director (Part-Time, Growing Role) – Voices of Music

Bay Area, CA

• Hybrid / Remote with Local Travel
• $35–$50 / hour

Voices of Music—one of the world’s leading classical music video channels and a premier Bay Area early music ensemble—is seeking a part-time Managing Director to support our growing organization. This role blends administration, production support, marketing coordination, and on-site leadership during concerts and recording sessions.

We’re looking for someone who is organized, creative, flexible, collaborative, and passionate about the arts. Strong communication and problem‑solving skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule staff, venues, production personnel, and education programs

Manage ticketing and coordinate print materials

Support marketing and social media campaigns

Liaise with musicians; track travel and paperwork

Assist with after-school and community education programs

Oversee rehearsal logistics, space setup / breakdown, and venue coordination

Lead front‑of‑house and backstage logistics during concerts and recording days

Required Qualifications

Passion for music and the arts

Degree in arts administration, music, business, comparative literature, or equivalent experience

Experience in performing arts administration or nonprofit arts management (required)

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Google Workspace

Valid California driver’s license

Preferred Skills

Adobe Creative Suite and / or Excel

Budgeting experience

Ability to read music

Multilingual or cross‑cultural experience

Familiarity with YouTube, social media, and digital marketing

Work Environment & Compensation

15–20 hours per week, with full‑time weeks during concert production periods

Flexible weekday schedule; some evenings / weekends during events

Mostly remote; 2–4 monthly visits to the Music Directors’ office; local travel required

$35–$50 per hour, depending on experience, with growth potential
