Office Of : Office is a nonprofit urban planning and architecture organization that designs policy, projects, and programs for equitable city growth. Our work spans local, regional, and national contexts—often beginning with community-driven planning efforts that result in built projects we manage and deliver. Our Community Rebuilding Response Program in Altadena supports fire-impacted homeowners with pro bono, wrap-around design services that help families rebuild. We are seeking a mission-aligned Associate Architect / Designer to join our team and work exclusively on this program.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Associate Architect / Designer will work with our lead architect and design team to develop construction drawing sets for single-family homes under the Community Rebuilding Response Program. This is a full-time program-specific position tied to the duration of the Altadena rebuilding initiative, and requires a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an architectural design practice. The candidate needs experience preparing construction drawings, is detail-oriented, and is motivated by community-centered design.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in architectural design.
Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Suite, Rhino, and Google Suite required.
Familiarity with building codes, construction technology, agency coordination, and permitting processes.
Experience with affordable housing and nonprofit organizations is a plus.
Strong organizational skills, can manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and clear documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with production of construction drawing sets for single-family homes.
Support integration of building systems, codes, and technical requirements.
Work closely with the lead architect, project managers, engineers and contractors.
Participate in internal reviews and homeowner meetings.
Contribute to design presentations and materials for homeowners, partners, and agencies.
