Position Summary
ION is in search of a full-time Business Development Manager to support the overall commercialization of ION’s transformative energy transition technology. The goal of the Business Development Manager is to grow ION’s commercial sales pipeline. Responsibilities include identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and developing sales strategies to drive company growth. This role reports directly to the Vice President, Business Development and Sales.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Collaborates and manages relationships between ION and our customers
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with clients to support business development initiatives
- Monitors the existing and emerging markets for carbon capture applications and originates new licensing business opportunities
- Leverages existing and builds new trusting relationships with end users, EPC companies, power producers and other potential customers to grow licensing opportunity pipeline
- Develops partnerships to create new business opportunities with industry leaders
- Develops the evaluation of adjacent market opportunities and supports the R&D development pathway
- Supports the development of, and performs updates to, project risk registry for assigned customer projects
- Represents the ION business development teams with key project partners and customers
- Generates a complete view of the customer, including their needs, expectations, interactions, and perception of their experiences with the company by leveraging Customer Relationship Management tools, digital channels (e.g. web and social), business intelligence tools, and data management
- Owns key contact for prospecting and on-going relationship management with all customers
Qualifications, Education, and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, marketing, finance, engineering, or communications or related field or equivalent education and experienceMinimum of 5 years of progressive business development experience, ideally spanning both public and private industry with a successful track record in closing Pre-FEEDs, FEEDS and FID’sProven success in growing revenue through channel partnerships, licensing model, and project developmentSuccess in both large and early-stage business is preferredGoal and mission oriented with a hunger to take responsibility to accomplish specific goals and objectives that drive company and personal valueDetail-oriented with exceptional relationship building, risk assessment, and critical thinking skillsLearning agility, including the ability to learn and then utilize technical knowledge within the sales processExcellent ability to quickly assess problems and formulate strategies to overcome issuesDemonstrates the ability to adapt to changing priorities and circumstancesExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate meaningful information for non-technical individualsSkilled at maintaining positive relationships with clients, including actively listening to their needs, and providing timely and effective solutionsProfessionally represents the company and builds trust with external stakeholdersDemonstrates proactive behavior; stays abreast of advancements in the marketProficient in MS Office with Salesforce a plusSolid understanding of methods and techniques used in CO2 capture from flue gas preferredDemonstrated experience creating compelling and well-structured proposals preferredWilling and able to travel approximately 30% for customer meetings, conferences, and various market development activities as neededPosition Type / Working Conditions :
This is a full-time position working standard business hours. This position may require the flexibility to work diverse schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. On occasion, this position may require extensive travel.This position is for the Houston, TX location.
