Job Summary

The Assistant Dean for Finance and Operations serves as a senior strategic partner to the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing.

Reporting to the dean, the Assistant Dean works closely with other members of the leadership team and is responsible for the administration, fiscal management, budgeting, IT, and human resources management at the college.

Minimum Qualifications Masters degree in business administration and 6 years of related experience OR a bachelors degree with 8 years of related experience, including five or more years of experience in a higher education setting, as well as at least three years of overseeing all aspects of HR, Budget and IT teams.

Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Data Warehouse, USCERA and Banner. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of management related to Human Resources activities, budget and IT.

Experience with federal, state and foundation grants and contracts, Job Duties Job Duty Participate in strategic planning and executive decision-making, represent the college onuniversity matters related to administration and operations.

Works closely with the Dean to explore financial growth opportunities in the areas of academic entrepreneurship, extramural funding, and partnerships.

Takes a leadership role in partnering with colleagues to advance a shared mission. Contributes with senior leadership to ensure the creation, implementation and measuring success of the Strategic Plan.

Advises the dean and actively contributes to the long-range planning of the colleges departments and units taking into consideration the institutions strategic plan and initiatives.

Prepares and delivers detailed presentations to the Dean, faculty, staff, and other university constituencies or partners.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the budget development short- and long-range planning process.

Analysis of enrollment trends and staffing patterns to provide efficient allocation of annual budgetary authority for equivalent positions and additional funding for adjunct positions.

In collaboration with the chairs and the senior management team, engage in ongoing review of enrollment patterns and faculty workload.

Develop strategies and initiatives that ensure efficient use of university resources. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Serves as the Colleges chief operating officer.

Provides oversight and administration of multiple units to ensure effectiveness. Contributes to or sets long-term goals and strategic planning.

Ensures effective financial management of responsibility units. Evaluates productivity and develops efficiencies. Develops organizational strategies to ensure staffing structure and levels are in line with organizational needs and motivating staff and managing all levels of performance.

Oversees data analysis for all aspects of the college. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Provides oversight of Human Resources and Faculty Affairs.

Works in collaboration with the HR Director in developing organizational strategies to ensure staffing structure and levels are in line with organizational needs and manages all levels of performance.

Responsible for the management of all human resources operations for all the faculty, staff and student workers in the colleges departments, programs, centers, institutes, and schools.

Oversees human resources and payroll actions relating to faculty and staff hiring, appointment, review, promotion and retention actions, and leave of absence processing, dual employment, ECOM forms, resignations, and retirements.

The office also oversees faculty awards, professorships, and endowed chair appointments. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Oversee the analysis of college data, processes, systems, and procedures to determine current state of performance, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Makes recommendations for improvements, manages implementation and incorporation of changes, and evaluates outcomes. Utilizes a variety of reporting and data analysis techniques to draw conclusions, monitor, and derive solutions.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Oversight of space allocation, maintenance and renovations. Supervise college space and maintenance teams.
