Dispensing Pharmacy Technician

Job Title : Dispensing Pharmacy Technician (LTC)

Setting : Closed door, long term care pharmacy

Illinois state Tech requirements :

• Must be licensed to work as Pharm Tech in IL
• All Techs must upgrade to Certified Tech and obtain cert within 2 years of becoming Registered Pharm Tech

Job Summary :

The Pharmacy Fill Technician accurately prepares prescriptions, including the careful picking, labeling, scanning, and final preparation of prescriptions for the pharmacist's verification. Additionally, they assist in maintaining a well-organized workspace and ensure compliance with regulations.

Duties / Responsibilities :

Pull / pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas (pre-pack racks)

Accuracy check of final preparation before presenting to the pharmacist

Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently and in a timely and prioritized manner, under the supervision of a pharmacist

Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle / dispose per procedure

Assist in pre-packing frequently ordered medications; label and stock as needed during low-volume times

Package materials and products manually

Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA

Maintain clean / organized workstation areas and replenish all stock supplies needed each shift

Alert the pharmacist on duty of any medication / product that is not scanning properly

Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code

Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required and / or expected

Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs

Required Skills / Abilities :

Knowledge of brand name / generic medications

Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Able to handle high volumes

Reliable

Detail-focused with analytical problem-solving skills

Able to physically perform light lifting.

Must be able to work various shifts and day

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :

High School diploma or equivalent required

Pharmacy technician licenses / certifications required by state regulations and state of practice.

Previous pharmacy experience preferred (one or more years of long-term care experience preferred)

WHAT'S OPEN (SHIFTS) :

Lunches are 1 hr - 30 min paid, 30 unpaid (please make sure they log accordingly)

Weekends : Pharmacy Techs can expect to work every 2-3 weeks. Can be every other when needed, or every 3 weekends

Automation Openings :

Looking for somebody who is more experienced, has used automation technologies in a pharmacy setting - LTC experience preferred for automation openings

Other Tech needs :

Any fast-paced pharmacy setting will work (retail is fine, other LTC, any pharmacy tech works as long as they can keep up with a fast pace)

really looking for people who can come in and hit ground running and are comfortable operating in fast-paced productivity-based environment. HAVE to work through scripts each day to get meds to patients on time.

AM Shift :

4 Tech spots + 1 Tech for automation

Flexible start time between 7am-10am (standard shift length)

Mid-Shift :

2 openings

11am or 12pm start time (I'm sure they'd make 11 : 30 work if somebody needed)

PM Shift :

5 Tech openings + 1 Tech for automation

start time typically anchored around 3pm - start time can likely be flexible an hour before / after 3pm based on candidate preference

Overnight shifts :

4 Tech spots + 1 Tech for automation

Could do 10 : 30pm shift start time, also flexible to 12 : 30am start time

ALSO open to 4x10's if somebody would want nights

Pay : negotiable based on experience
