Responsibilities :

• Perform complex hip and knee joint replacement surgeries (arthroplasty), including primary and revision procedures.
• Manage a wide range of conditions, such as inflammatory and degenerative arthritis, avascular necrosis, and post-traumatic injuries.
• Build and maintain a clinical practice, potentially with a focus on specific areas like outpatient total joint replacement.
• Participate in a busy hip fracture program and manage complex cases referring to the hospital.
• Educating and training medical students, residents, and fellows in the field of orthopedic surgery and adult reconstruction.
• Mentoring trainees and helping them develop their clinical and surgical skills.
• Leading or participating in educational initiatives, such as conferences, journal clubs, and surgical skills labs.
• Potentially serving as a program director for the arthroplasty fellowship, which involves overseeing the curriculum and the training of fellows.
• Conducting clinical research on topics such as the outcomes of joint replacement surgeries, new surgical techniques, or biomaterials.
• Collaborating with researchers from other departments, biomedical engineering, to develop and test new orthopedic devices.
• Publishing original research in scientific journals and presenting findings at national meetings.
• Supervising trainees' research projects. While some positions may not require research, there is often an opportunity to participate and contribute to the department's academic mission.

Qualifications :

Medical Degree and Residency : You must have completed an M.D. or equivalent degree, followed by a full residency in orthopedic surgery.

Board Certification : You must be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Fellowship Training : A mandatory qualification is completion of a dedicated fellowship in Arthroplasty / Adult Reconstruction .
