Legal Department Operational Effectiveness And Efficiency Role
A critical role in optimizing business processes and implementing improvements for the Legal Department's operational effectiveness and efficiency. This role is responsible for supporting Legal Department teammates by analyzing business processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing solutions across the Department's operations. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to streamline workflows, manage projects, and leverage technology to meet the strategic goals of the Legal Department. The role offers the opportunity to work with legal professionals, senior leaders, and cross-functional teams to support operational objectives and implement solutions for legal practice areas and the Legal Department. The role stays informed about industry best practices and emerging trends, is eager to learn new things, apply knowledge to identify opportunities, and can take the lead in designing and implementing solutions. Position will report to Sr Legal Operations Manager. Role requires the ability to work in office.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Use critical thinking and creativity to support, develop, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of new or existing initiatives, build processes, and provide project management support.
- As business partner, develop strategies to solve operational problems by evaluating key issues, identifying relevant data, creating roadmaps for execution, and applying project management support.
- Implement practical solutions to meet the Legal Department's needs and drive operational objectives by translating business needs into requirements to support key workflows.
- Collaborate with colleagues to collect, document, and confirm requirements; prioritize technical initiatives based on departmental needs; and facilitate and participate in testing, launch efforts, and issue resolution.
- Develop and manage resources, governance controls and provide training and support to ensure the successful adoption of processes and any related technologies.
- Align the Legal Department's and practice area's operational functions with leadership's mission, values, and objectives.
- Work cross-functionally with various teams to support operational objectives.
- Represent the Legal Department in interdepartmental committees covering operational matters, as assigned.
- Work closely with the Data Analytics Team, Technology Team and other Legal Operations teammates for knowledge sharing, mentoring, and training.
- Stay abreast of industry trends related to operational efficiency, risk management, and legal operations.
- Support, and may lead, ad-hoc projects related to legal operations.

Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, or a related fieldStrong technical understanding of legal technology, process design and governanceUnderstanding of the structure and operational areas of legal departments3 or more years of experience in operations at a company, at a legal department or law firmProficient in understanding legal operations software, and workflowsAble to embrace changeDemonstrated ability to effectively lead work teams and projectsStrong analytical and basic research skillsSolid organizational skill with attention to detailSuperb verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work within a large organization and collaborate and partner with cross-functional teamsAbility to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm and build strong relationships with internal stakeholdersExecutive presence and ability to act as primary contact on assigned engagementsProficient in the use of Microsoft Office SuitePreferred Qualifications
Experience in legal operations at a legal department or law firmExperience with legal matter management systems and related applicationsAbility to work with project planning tools (MS Project, MS Planner)Ability to develop and deliver executive level presentations
