Position Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Risk Manager to join our team in North Houston! As a leading player in the transportation industry, we understand the critical role that risk management plays in ensuring the safety, security, and profitability of our operations.

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of trucking industry expertise and insurance knowledge to effectively identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with our trucking operations.

Responsibilities :

Risk Assessment : Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards, vulnerabilities, and exposures within our trucking operations.

This includes evaluating factors such as driver behavior, vehicle maintenance, cargo handling, and regulatory compliance.

Insurance Management : Oversee the company's insurance portfolio, including commercial auto insurance, liability coverage, cargo insurance, and other relevant policies.

Collaborate with insurance brokers and underwriters to secure adequate coverage at competitive rates.

  • Claims Management : Manage the claims process for incidents involving company vehicles, drivers, or cargo. Work closely with insurance carriers, legal counsel, and claims adjusters to facilitate the resolution of claims in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Safety Compliance : Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing the trucking industry, including Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Risk Mitigation Strategies : Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to reduce the frequency and severity of potential losses.

This may involve implementing safety training programs, establishing preventive maintenance protocols, and implementing telematics systems to monitor driver behavior and vehicle performance.

Financial Analysis : Conduct financial analysis to assess the financial impact of risk exposures on the company's bottom line.

Develop risk management metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and monitor risk-related performance.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, accounting, or related
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Trucking industry or related industries (strong preference)
  • Demonstrated experience in insurance management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
