We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and drive growth within a dynamic construction environment. This role is based in Dallas, Texas, and offers a long-term contract opportunity for a detail-oriented individual seeking to make a significant impact. With a focus on construction accounting, this position provides the chance to lead key processes and collaborate closely with leadership to support multi-state operations.
Responsibilities for the interim Accounting Manager
- Oversee work-in-progress accounting, including tracking job costs, revenue recognition, and project backlog to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and support bonding agents with comprehensive financial packages.
- Own the WIP schedule, track job costs, percent completion, revenue recognition, and backlog across all active projects
- Prepare monthly WIP reports for internal review and external bonding audits
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost-to-complete estimates and timely billing
- Reconcile balance sheets and oversee financial accuracy across various bank accounts and entities.
- Develop and manage payroll processes, ensuring timely approvals and adherence to relevant regulations.
- Optimize QuickBooks Desktop for accounting functions and ensure efficient financial operations.
- Identify opportunities to scale accounting infrastructure and implement process improvements to support organizational growth.
- Assist in creating internal controls and fostering a streamlined approach to multi-state financial operations.
- Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on construction industry practices.
- Expertise in work-in-progress accounting, including job costing, revenue recognition, and audit preparation.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop, with demonstrated ability to manage multi-entity financial operations.
- Familiarity with multi-state financial processes and tax coordination.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external auditors.
- Ability to perform month-end close, account reconciliations, and journal entry tasks with precision.
- Experience in managing general ledger accuracy and preparing for financial statement audits.
- Capability to work onsite and contribute to a focused, collaborative team environment.
