About The Position

Job Title : Echo Tech Registered

Hours per Shift : M-Th 7 : 00 AM - 5 : 30 PM, on-call required, weekends on-call 5x8 Hr

Experience : One year of experience in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography), preferred

License : HS / GED required

Certifications : BLS required, Currently registered as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer required

Must-Have :

Graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science, or a programmatically accredited program in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) strongly preferred.

Description :

Provides specialized cardiovascular care while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort.

Performs and reviews a baseline patient assessment and evaluates patient response to diagnostic cardiac procedures.

Proficient in the operation and maintenance, as specified by the manufacturer, of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used for procedures in the specific area of operation.

Performs accurate and thorough echocardiograms as ordered by the physician.

Performs specialized testing using computer-assisted devices including, but not limited to TEE, Stress Echo, and Pharmacological Stress Echo.

Cross-trained to perform EKGs, Treadmills, and Holter monitors as needed.

Maintains and reviews equipment, ensuring proper function and calibration of machines.

Maintains high skill level through participation in continuous quality improvement, in-services, ongoing education, and attendance at a majority of staff meetings.

Ability to provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and / or facility policy.

Recognizes and promptly acts upon unusual results or patient responses by informing the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Must be able to deal with different personality types, ages, and levels of consciousness of patients.

Must be able to adjust approach based on patient or family level of understanding of the test procedure.

Promptly troubleshoots and corrects recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems that interfere with recordings.

Independently prioritizes clinical and administrative work and identifies process improvements.

Processes patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests in accordance with hospital standards.

Floating may be required to any location within sixty (60) miles of the original assignment location or identified float zone.

Float assignments may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements in accordance with policy.
