Position Summary
The Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI) at Columbia University is seeking an Analytics Developer who will work under the direction of the Vice Chair of Services, Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI). The Analytics Developer will serve as the Clinical Data Navigator (CDN) for DBMI and other departments (as necessary) and will be active in investigating the analytic and research data needs of the DBMI. This position will require the candidate to design, create, and maintain data structures, reports, dashboards, and related data extracts from various institutional data sources such as Epic and CUIMC's legacy electronic health records. In addition to development work, this position requires the candidate to work with end-users to understand analytic and research data needs and both scope and document technical specifications for requests.

Responsibilities
Database Development : Proficiently uses MS SQL Server for queries and designing tables. (40%)
Business Analysis : Works with end-users to understand analytic needs, provide guidance on optimal existing and potential solutions, and translate the operational definitions into application-based, technical specifications. (30%)
Task Management : Manages multiple tasks, simultaneously keeping clients and team members updated on progress. (10%)
Maintains Standards : Maintains knowledge of internal and industry-wide policies, standards, and best practices, including HIPAA, IRB, and data governance policies and procedures to ensure all deliverables meet those standards. (5%)
Continuous Improvement : Seeks out additional training to improve skills in the team's technologies and new technologies, and to improve soft skills for better client and team relations. (5%)
Technical Documentation : Contributes to the development of institutional data dictionaries to streamline future reporting needs. (5%)
Other Duties : Other duties as assigned. (5%)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, analytics, information systems, statistics, plus three years of related experience.
