Position Overview

At Melone Hatley, P.C., our Law Clerks play an essential role in supporting our attorneys and clients by providing high-quality legal research, drafting, and case preparation. As a Law Clerk, you'll gain hands-on experience in family law and estate planning while working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. This role is ideal for law students or recent graduates seeking to build their legal skills and contribute to meaningful client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Legal Research & Writing : Conduct thorough legal research on statutes, case law, and procedural rules; draft memoranda, motions, pleadings, and discovery requests / responses; assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and client meetings.
• Case Support : Review and organize case files, exhibits, and evidence; summarize depositions, discovery responses, and other legal documents; maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all case-related work.
• Client Interaction & Team Support : Assist attorneys in preparing client communications, letters, and reports; participate in client intake and help gather necessary documentation; collaborate closely with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to advance case progress.
• Administrative & Professional Development : Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards at all times; track and log tasks in firm systems (Clio, Outlook, and related software); seek feedback, embrace learning opportunities, and support firm-wide initiatives.
