This position primarily serves as a receptionist and telephone operator for the Office of the Attorney General in Orlando. Primarily responsible for managing multi-line phone system and answering public inquiries concerning the agency and state government. Experience managing a multi-line phone system with excellent verbal skills and good people skills required. Good computer skills essential. Starting salary commensurate with training and experience.
The duties of this position include but are not limited to the following :
- Responsible for receiving all calls directed to the Orlando Office of the Attorney General; direct incoming calls to their proper destination; and, make judgment on the priority of calls.
- Answer incoming telephone calls for the Orlando Office of the Attorney General within 3 rings.
- Communicate, by telephone or in person, with the public and the staff on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General.
- This involves greeting clients and visitors to the office, directing them as is appropriate, and receiving and responding to requests for data and information from staff.
- Take messages for all employees of the Orlando Office of the Attorney General and input messages into the computer for those employees for which it is intended.
- Independently answer telephone inquiries that do not require legal conclusions or legal advice.
- Refer callers and government officials to appropriate state or federal agencies, when necessary or appropriate.
- Log in, mail out, date stamp, sort, and distribute mail for the Orlando Office. Update the phone extension list and phone programming as needed.
- Perform miscellaneous clerical assignments, as needed, and assist any staff with special assignments as directed by supervisor.
- This position may require extended hours to ensure telephone coverage or to complete assigned projects.
