Chief Development Lead / IT Director
Our financial industry client is seeking an accomplished Chief Development Lead / IT Director to oversee and guide a team of 5–6 developers while driving technical strategy, architectural direction, and delivery execution. This is a highly influential leadership role that requires strong engineering expertise across multiple stacks, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to lead development teams in a complex, enterprise‑scale environment.
This is not a hands‑on coding role, but a leadership and architectural oversight position requiring deep technical understanding.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a development team (5–6 developers), providing engineering direction and technical standards.
- Define and review high‑level architecture, sequence diagrams, and technical design artifacts.
- Ensure development aligns with enterprise architectural decisions; escalate exceptions when necessary.
- Guide Agile teams on practices for coding standards, CI / CD, automation, and DevOps strategy.
- Remove technical blockers, identify risks, and ensure timely delivery of engineering outcomes.
- Drive infrastructure, environment strategy, deployment patterns, and roadmap alignment.
- Bring an MVP and scalable mindset to all solutions and technical decisions.
- Continuously evaluate new technologies, patterns, and tools to improve delivery and system quality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with the Chief Product Owner to align product roadmap with technical priorities.Work closely with architecture leadership, Dev Leads, and business stakeholders.Communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.Provide transparency on evolving priorities, architectural decisions, and technology constraints.Project & Delivery Management
Oversee technical project delivery from an engineering standpoint.Ensure engineering teams have the tools, processes, and environment needed to meet sprint goals.Maintain consistency, scalability, and reusability of components across teams.Must-Have Experience
10+ years of professional software development / engineering experienceStrong expertise in :JavaAngularPython.NET experience preferred (but not mandatory if Java / Angular / Python are strong)Proven experience leading development teams (5–6 developers)Strong engineering background with technical project leadershipAWS strongly preferredKnowledge of CI / CD, automation, DevOps conceptsDatabase Experience
PostgreSQL (highly preferred)MongoDB / NoSQL exposureIndustry Experience
