Position Summary : Assists in the upkeep of the YWCA campus as well as the safety and security of buildings under the supervision of the Janitorial Coordinator. Essential Job Functions : Housekeeping duties include but are not limited to climbing ladders, moving furniture and heavy boxes, stripping and waxing floors, and shampooing carpets and furniture. Complete work orders and housekeeping tasks as assigned. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies. Complete shelter room and apartment turnovers, as needed, to YWCA sanitizing standards. Perform other job duties as assigned by Janitorial Coordinator. Additional Duties and Responsibilities : Uphold and act in accordance with the mission of the organization, vision, values, policies, procedures, protocols and strategic direction of the organization. Model YWCA community standards and encourage program participants and other staff to follow them. Satisfactorily perform all duties outlined in this job description. Maintain all certifications and licensing related to role, program licensing, and grant standards including but not limited to : CPR, First Aid, etc. Attend required staff meetings, trainings, supervision as requested. Monitor campus security in collaboration with all staff to protect the safety and well-being of program participants, staff, and visitors. Compliance : Adhere to YWCA Utah's policies and is committed to act legally and ethically within the scope of the work Qualifications : 1-2 years of janitorial experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, evaluate progress, and adjust activities to complete projects within established timeframe. Able to demonstrate skills in effective communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving. An understanding of, and agreement with, YWCA Utah's mission, values, and philosophy regarding eliminating racism, empowerment of women, and commitment to anti-oppression work and social justice. Understanding and commitment to issues of cultural diversity and anti-racism. Must be able to pass Department of Health and Human Services criminal background check. Physical Sensory Demands : Work is generally performed in a safe office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to : sit for long periods of time; use computer to enter data; use telephone to converse with customers and employees; walk and stand for long periods of time; occasionally lift 50lbs; perform repetitive wrist, hand and / or finger movement.
