About ICON Builders
ICON Builders is a 30+ year general contractor specializing in occupied affordable housing renovations. We’ve rebuilt or renovated over 25,000 homes—including 13,500 HUD units—partnering with leading developers, architects, and housing agencies to Rebuild Lives through high-quality, on-time construction
Position Summary
This is more than an engineering position. This role supports ICON’s broader goals in reducing project cycle time, improving compliance consistency, and scaling quality across multi-state operations.
This role bridges the gap between business / operations (field, project delivery, estimating, safety, quality) and AI / data science / technology, ensuring that AI-capabilities deliver measurable value (cost, schedule, safety, quality, productivity) within the construction context.
You’re joining a company that sets the standard in affordable housing renovation. ICON Builders is the gold standard, known for delivering projects that meet the highest marks in quality, compliance, and construction execution.
As part of a fast-growing Innovation team, you’ll develop AI / ML solutions and copilots integrated with Procore, SharePoint, and our intranet to streamline workflows, surface insights, and strengthen operational execution. These tools will make our teams faster, sharper, and more effective, helping to identify scope gaps, benchmark bids, generate submittals, keep projects on schedule, and connect teams to the knowledge they need when they need it.
These tools won’t just improve internal workflows, they will directly improve the final product our clients receive, and ultimately, the homes our residents live in.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the AI roadmap for construction systems (e.g., project planning & scheduling, site monitoring, quality / safety automation, predictive maintenance of equipment, supply chain / logistics optimization).
- Work closely with executive leadership (e.g., VP Construction / COO / CFO) to align AI initiatives with company strategic goals (e.g., productivity improvement, risk reduction, sustainability, digital transformation).
- Identify and prioritize high-impact use cases in the construction domain (for example : automated defect detection from site imagery, schedule delay prediction, materials logistics optimization, generative design, risk modelling) — drawing from construction domain knowledge and AI potential.
