Ohio-based Akron Children’s Hospital seeks Pediatric Psychologists to join its growing Behavioral Health team. Akron Children’s Hospital is the largest pediatric healthcare system in Northeast Ohio and ranked among the Best Children’s hospitals by US News and World Report .

This integrated healthcare delivery system includes :

  • Two free-standing pediatric hospitals
  • More than 900 providers, who manage 1,000,000+ patient visits annually
  • A network of more than 60 primary and specialty care locations

At the Lois and John Orr Family Behavioral Health Center, we specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of emotional or behavioral disorders affecting children, teens and their families.

Our psychologists have advanced training in consultation and outpatient treatment of children and adolescents dealing with the stress of a chronic medical condition, new diagnoses, anxiety, depression related to significant medical events and accidents.

We also provide consultation for children admitted for medical and / or surgical care, for fully integrated inpatient services.

Opportunities exist in the following areas :

  • Initiate & Implement integrated programming within our GI services
  • Join an established Eating Disorders Team for continued growth
  • Initiate services in Mansfield / Wooster Primary Care / Regional Subspecialty practices
  • Grow existing services in our Divisions of Nephrology, Hematology / Oncology
  • Join an established and rapidly growing Sleep Medicine Service

These positions offer opportunities for collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals as members of the multidisciplinary team.

Teaching and training are available, including : supervision of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in psychology;

teaching of pediatric residents; and training of child psychiatry fellows. Opportunities for research are also available, and academic appointment at North East Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) is encouraged.

Requirements include a doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical psychology (pediatric emphasis preferred) from an APA-accredited doctoral program, completion of an APA-accredited internship (child or pediatric emphasis preferred), license eligibility in the State of Ohio, and a strong interest in evidence based pediatric psychology.

Applicants who completed a post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology preferred.
