Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg

Location : Jackson, MS

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Nights (7p–7a), 12-hour shifts

Guaranteed Hours : 36 per week

Unit : Hematology / Oncology Med Surg (Oncology certification NOT required)

Position Overview

This is a high-acuity Med Surg opportunity within a Level 1 Trauma Center. The unit specializes in hematology / oncology patients and chemotherapy administration. Great opportunity for RNs interested in expanding skills—clinicians will be trained to administer chemotherapy if needed.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of recent acute Med Surg experience

Experience in high-acuity settings or Level 1 Trauma Center required

Epic charting proficiency required

Must be comfortable with lines, chest tubes

Must be willing to float within Med Surg units as needed

Certifications : BLS required

Licensure : Must have active RN license to submit

Unit & Patient Details

Beds : 32

Ratios : 1 : 5 typical, up to 1 : 6 depending on acuity

Common patient types : Hem / Onc, chemo patients, post-surgical, high-acuity Med Surg

Drips : Heparin, occasional Amiodarone start

Telemetry : All patients monitored; central monitoring support

Respiratory : CPAP / BiPAP with RT support

Scheduling & Logistics

Every other weekend

Holiday rotation required

No call

Floating within Med Surg based on skill
