Under the direction of the Deputy Chief, Fleet (Fire) and / or the SSMI of Fire Fleet & Logistics, the Forestry Logistics Officer I procures services and / or supplies including fire provisions and equipment for the use of the region’s and purchasing contracts, price schedule, central stores, local vendors, etc.
includes specification development, bid processes and inspection for specification compliance at time of delivery. Interviews vendors, sales representatives, evaluates new products, secures bids, prepares contracts and service agreements for maintenance and repairs of equipment and other contracted services.
Provides advisory and consultative services to management including instructing subordinate staff, line officers and fire-fighting personnel involved with procurement, accountability of equipment and property management.
Perform logistics for fire, flood, earthquake, and other emergencies and disasters. Must be willing to work overtime.
This position requires a valid California Driver’s License Class C (CDL) and participate in the DMV Pull program : may be responsible for picking up materials from vendors and taking them to shop or other destinations, as needed.
Educational Incentive Pay Differential (Pay Diff 45) may be eligible for Forestry Logistics Officer I candidates who have completed 60 units from an accredited community college, college, or university.
Longevity Pay Differential (Pay Diff 73) may be eligible for Forestry Logistics Officer I candidates that are appointment as BU8 employees of 17 years and longer.
Working Conditions
In Office - This position supports the day-to-day logistics operations for the Fire & Rescue branch which is handled onsite.
This is not considered a hybrid telework position DMV Pull Program - Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid California Driver’s License (CDL).
