Wage/Hour Status: NonexemptReports To: Principal and Teacher(s) assigned Pay Grade: IS2-187 daysDept./School: Assigned Campus DAEP Date Revised: July 11, 2024PRIMARY PURPOSE: To support teaching and administrative staff in meeting the needs of students attending alternative education school in classes such as PE, Art, and core subjects in grades K-12.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification Associate's Degree or minimum of 48 college credits
Paraprofessional Certification for Educational Aide or eligible for certification
Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office
Preferred Experience: Previous successful experience working with children
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Instructional Support - Perform routine clerical duties
- Help document student behavior
- Help maintain a neat and orderly workspace
- Assist in the use, care, and maintenance of technology and other equipment.
- Organize and manage student transitions between classes.
- Assist teachers in classrooms as needed.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Coordinate student's learning needs through classroom teachers
Student Management - Work directly with students individually or in small groups as assigned by the teacher
- Monitor students during lunch times
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside of the schools
- Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students
Other 13. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed
14. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy
15. Keep informed and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
