Description :

The unit has 29 beds.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 5 : 1 during the day and 6 : 1 at night.

Common diagnoses include neurological conditions, neurosurgery patients, amputations, multi-trauma cases, cardiac patients, and complex medical conditions.

Clinicians will need to understand that this is a drug-free campus and must produce a negative drug screen.

There are no requirements for RN's to titrate drips, except for heparin.

Telemetry is available through tele packs, but it is not monitored by RN's.

RN's are required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehabilitation.

House supervisors are available as oversight, but charge nurses are not present.

Nurse aides are on the unit with a ratio of 1 : 9 or 1 : 10.

Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and pulmonary or cardiac rehabilitation services are available.

CPAP and BiPAP equipment is utilized overnight for sleep apnea.

Shifts are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 : 30 p.m. for days and from 7 p.m. to 7 : 30 a.m. for nights.

There is a requirement for every other weekend and holiday rotation.

Floating to other areas is necessary, including long-term acute care and medical-surgical units.

Scrubs in any color are acceptable, but t-shirts are not allowed unless approved.

Orientation consists of classroom training followed by days or nights with a preceptor.

Knowledge of specific rehabilitation documentation is essential.

The charting system utilized is Epic.

A BSN is not required for this position.

The care setting is post-acute.

This position requires BLS certification from AHA.
