Description :

The essential functions of this position include performing magnetic resonance imaging on patients utilizing highly technical equipment and administering contrast materials as required.

Responsibilities include preparing the scan room and patient for examinations.

Drawing up IV contrast if needed and administering oral contrast if indicated.

Performing warm-up procedures on equipment and entering patient data and appropriate scan parameters.

Reviewing patient data to assure proper exams and previous exams.

Interviewing and screening patients for contraindications prior to an MRI study.

Explaining the procedure and answering patient questions.

Transporting patients into the exam room and assisting with patient positioning for exams.

Determining any allergies to materials and injecting appropriate IV contrast.

Performing scans while paying attention to appropriate positioning.

Being alert for the need for additional or thinner slices / images.

Utilizing correct protocols, coils, restraints, and other materials when scanning.

Assuring proper marking with regard to orientation of the patient.

Entering images with a keypad with attention to the order of images.

Preparing records for the radiologist and ensuring that all clinical information is complete.

Assuring that exam images are in correct order and providing additional information as required.
